In joining the world campaign on becoming a more Eco friendly place to stay. The Turquoise Shell Inn is involved in a number of projects.
- In all our rooms we have signs in our bathrooms which remind our guests of what it means to launder towels everyday. Not just the cost but the water waste and electricity usage that goes into cleaning those towels. Its with this in mind we ask our guests if they want fresh towels to leave the used towels on the floor to be exchanged by the housekeeper.
- Also in our Showers we have soap dispensers, both for body soap and shampoo. We have no recycling plant at this time or recycling organization on the Dutch side of the island. So we all need to do our share of decreasing what goes into our landfill both as businesses and individuals.
Water saver valves have been placed just before the shower heads in the bathrooms. Which allow guests to shut off and on the shower quickly without having to change the temperature of the water as they are soaping up. - All of our screw-in light bulbs are being replaced with Energy Saving lights.
- All the rooms have a reusable grocery bag for shopping to eliminate the use of plastic bags.
